Meet the Artist
Heather left her small town of Winneconne, WI and started her tattooing journey in the fall of 2013. Her black and grey realism charcoal and graphite drawings got her started with an apprenticeship, but she quickly realized her newfound love for new school and neo traditional style art. For four years, she continued growing and learning with the crew at A Dead Anchor Tattoo in Madison, WI, but soon decided to branch off and study on her own.
Black Koi Studio was developed in September of 2018 and became the perfect place for her to express her love for tattooing and fine art. Aside from tattooing, Heather also enjoys doing side projects with fine art and special efx moulage makeup.
She chose the name Black Koi for the symbolism of strength, courage, bravery to challenge the odds in order to create one's own destiny. Black koi also represent good fortune in business, academics, and becoming reborn.
As a lover of nature, Heather prefers tattooing and drawing subjects dealing with plants and animals. She also loves Japanese culture, video game, and realistic styles of art.
